Voter registration deadline
Friday, October 9, 2026, by 5 p.m.If you miss it, you can register and vote at the same time at an early voting site in your county from Thursday, October 15 to Saturday, October 31.
Thursday, October 15 to Saturday, October 31, 2026Vote at any early voting site in your county. Sites and hours vary by county, and the last day ends at 3 p.m.
Tuesday, October 20, 2026, by 5 p.m.Your county board of elections must receive your request by 5 p.m., two weeks before Election Day. You can request online at the NC Absentee Ballot Portal or with a paper form.
Tuesday, November 3, 2026, by 7:30 p.m.Your county board of elections must receive it by 7:30 p.m. There is no postmark grace period. You can drop it off at your county board office or an early voting site in your county, but not at a polling place on Election Day.

Every paid political ad is labeled "Paid political advertisement" and carries the buyer's "Paid for by" line. Campaigns and committees from any side can buy one at the same published rates, and that includes people I've criticized.
I can turn down an ad that's false or hateful, or one made to look like an official election notice. Each political ad I accept goes in the public ledger below with the buyer, the committee or FEC ID, the amount and the run dates.
